How to plan for the looming crisis??

A crisis can happen due to a variety of reasons such as natural disasters, pandemics, economic downturns, and supply chain disruptions. To plan for a crisis, it is important to take a multi-faceted approach that includes both short-term and long-term measures. Lets talk about short term first!

In the short-term, there are several steps you can take to prepare for a crisis:

  1. Build a food reserve: Keep a stock of non-perishable food items, such as canned goods and dried foods, that can sustain you and your family for at least a three to four weeks.
  2. Establish local connections: Build relationships with local farmers, food producers, and suppliers. They may be able to provide food in case of a crisis.
  3. Store water: Store clean drinking water in case of a disruption in water supply.
  4. Create an emergency plan: Create a plan that includes steps for obtaining food, water, and other essentials in case of an emergency, and share it with your family and friends.
  5. Stay informed: Stay informed about the situation and follow the advice of official authorities and experts.
  6. Have a communication plan: Establish a way to communicate with your loved ones in case of a war and make sure that everyone in the family knows the plan.
  7. Have a shelter plan: Have a shelter plan in case you have to evacuate or take shelter.
  8. Have a first aid kit ready: Make sure you have a first aid kit ready and know how to use it.
  9. Be prepared for power outages and other infrastructure failures: Have a backup plan for lighting, cooking, and heating in case of power outages.
  10. Be aware of your surroundings and stay calm: Stay aware of any potential dangers and be prepared to respond quickly if needed, but also try to stay calm and not to panic.

Now lets talk about long term!

In the long-term, there are several steps you can take to prepare for a crisis:

  1. Learn to grow your own food: Consider starting a garden or learning about urban farming so that you can grow your own food in case of a crisis.
  2. Invest in food preservation methods: Learn about different methods of food preservation, such as canning, drying, and fermentation, to ensure a long-term food supply.
  3. Create a food storage plan: Consider storing long-term food supplies, such as grains, beans, and dried fruits and vegetables, in a cool, dry, and dark place.
  4. Invest in alternative sources of food: Consider alternative sources of food such as raising animals for meat, milk, or eggs, or keeping bees for honey.
  5. Join or create a community food security initiative: Joining or creating a community food security initiative can provide a sense of security and support in case of a food crisis.
  6. Learn basic cooking and food preservation skills: Learn basic cooking and food preservation skills that can help you sustain during long-term food shortages.
  7. Have a long-term emergency plan: Create a long-term emergency plan that includes steps for obtaining food, water, and other essentials in case of an emergency.
  8. Stay informed: Stay informed about the situation and follow the advice of official authorities and experts.
